Alauddin Al Azad

Alauddin Al Azad was born in dhaka.He passed ssc in 1947,hsc 1949.From Dhaka University, he passed BA honours at 1953 and MA 1954 is the same university .He was a very good student of bangla literature and also a professor .He was a modern Bangladeshi auther ,novelist ,and poet .He received his phd.degree from London University in 1970for his work Iswar  Gupter Jibon O Kabita.He was a first secondery of Bangladesh High Commission in Moskow.His literary works included in the currculum of school level ,secondery ,higher secondery and graduation level of Bengla literature in Bangladesh.His famous works are Manchitra ,Vorer Nodir Mohonay Jagoron ,Surjor Jalar Swapan ,Jouno Golpo Somogro nana etc.He died at his uttara residenc in the city  friday midnight.

Kalidas Ray

Kalidas Ray was born in Bardhaman  in India. He was a Bengali poet .His father was Jagendranath Ray.He was also a teacher .He had a significant way of writing.He was a descendant of the great Vaishanava poet Lochandas .During his teaching career ,he taught in various institutions like Barisha High School .He wrote in both Arabic and Persian .He was one of the greast poets of the Tagore era of Bengli literature.His poetry was specially influenced by Vaishnava thoughts .He wrote 19 books of verses.His famous poem include Chhatradhara,which describes a teacher appreation of his interaction with students .In addition to poetry , he also translated Sanskrit works and made a critical review of books .He breathed his last on 25 october 1975.

Kamini Roy

  1. Kamini Roy was born 12 october 1864 in the village of Basanda in Barisal district of Bangladesh .She was a leading Bengali poet,social worker and feminist from India.She was the first woman honours graduate from India.She was inclined towards literature  from a young age  and started composing poems at the age of eight .Her first book of poems Alo O Chhaya was published in 1889.She went out of her way to encourage other writers  and poets .1923,she visited Barisal and encouraged Sufia Kamal to continue writing .She lost her husband in1909.Her intense grief and pain over his premature death deeply affected her personal life and way reflected in her poems .Amongst her notable literary contribotions were Mahasweta,Pouronika,Dwip ODhup,Jibon Pathey ,etc.She died on27 september 1933.

Jibananda Das

    Jibananda Das is the most popular Bengali poet after Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam.He is considered one of the precursors who introduced modernist poetry to Bengali literature,at a period when it was influenced by Rabindranath Tagore's romantic poetry.Indeed Jibananda Das's poetry is sometimes an outcome of very  profound feeling that is painted with imagery of a type and reality understable .He broke the traditional circular structure of poetry and the pattern of logical sequence of words ,lines ,and stanzas.On october 14,1954,he was unmindfully crossing a road near Calcutta'sDeshapriya park when he was hit by a tram.He died in hospital on october 22,1954,after eight days struggle with death ,close to midnight.

    Shamsur Rahman

    Shamsur Rahman was born in Dhaka in 1929.Shamsur Rahman was a Bengali poet ,journalist , and human rights advocate.He earned the designation unofficial poet laureate of Bangladesh with more than 60 volumes heartfelt often fiercely patriotic poetry. His best known poem Shadinata Tumi was composed in 1971 at the height of the war for indepedence from Pakistan.Although Rahman studied english literature at the University of Dhaka,he supported the campaign to retain Bengali as the official language of East Pakistan and his poetry reflected the nature,colloquial speech of Dhaka.Majore themes in his poetry and writings include liberal humanism,human relationship,romanticised rebellion of youth, the emergence of Bangladesh and consequent events in Bangladesh.

    Sufia kamal

    Sufia kamal was born in Shaestabad ,daughter of a distinguished zaminder family ,in Barisal.She is one of the most widely recognised cultural personalities in Bangladesh.Sufia kamal's first poem,Bashanti was published in the then influantial magazines Saogat in 1926.kamal's first litirary career take off after her first poetry publication .Her first book of poems Sanjher Maya came out in 1938.In 1937she published her first collection of short stories keya kanta.In 1947 when Shaptahik Begum was first published ,kamal became its first editor.During the mass uprising in 1969,which demanded the resignation of general Ayub khan ,she promoted to the cause by forming mohila sangram parishad.She was involved in the 1971 libaration war .her literary works are Mrttikar Ghran,Ekatterer Diary,Banibanyas Samay To Ar Nei, Ekale Amader kel etc.

      1. Al Mahmud is one of the best Bangla poets and writers of Bangladesh.He was born in Brahmanbaria district.Mahmud started his career as a journalist.He was recognised as an outstanding poet after the publication of his volumes of verse Lok Lokantor in 1963.Later works such as Kaler Kalosh,Mayabi Purda Dula Otho,Sonali Kabin etc established his position as one of the most prominent poets of the country.In addition to writing poetry ,Al Mahmud has writen short stories, novels ,and essays.He is often said as having enriched bengali poetry by copious use of regional dialects.After the liberation war Bangladesh in1971,he joined the Daily Ganakantha as assistent editor.He was jailed for a year for being very critical of then Awama Leage government.Later he joined Bangladesh Shilpokola Academy and retired as its director.

    Kaki Nazrul Islam


    1. Kazi Nazrul Islam was born in the village of Churulia in the Burdwan District of Bengal.Nazrul began attending the maktab where he studied the Quran and other scriptures ,islami philosophy, and theology.Studying up to class 10,Nazrul did not appear for the matriculation pre test examination,enlisting in the Indian army in 1917at the age of eighteen.Nazrul left the army in 1920 and settled in Culcatta.His poetry and nationalist activism earned him the popular tittle of Bidhori kobi. Accomplishing a large body of acclaimed works through his life, Nazrul is official reconised as the national poet of Bangladesh and commemoreted in India.He died in1974 in Dhaka.

    Satyendranath Dutta

    1. Satyendranath Dutta was a Bengali poet.He was in 1882.He was an expert in many disciplines of intellectual enquiry including medieval Indian history,culture,and mythology.He composed poems and initially composed poems for the Bengali magazine Bharati.Although his stylistic nuances during this stage reflect theinfluances Michael Madhusudan Dutta,Akshay Kumar Boral,Debendranath Sen.His later poetry illustrates a greater reasonance with the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore .Nevertheless he maintained his distinctive poetic style.He is considered the wizerd of rhymes or [chhonder jadukar].His famous works are Banu O Bina,Fular fasal,Kuha O keha,Tuler Likhon etc.He died on june 26,1922.

    Golam Mostafa

    Golam Mostafa was born at Manuharpur Shailkapa thana, Jessore. His father name was Golam Rabbani who was a folk poet. Golam Mostafa passed B.A from Ripon College in 1918 and B.T from David Here Training College in 1922. In the mean time he started teaching at Barakpure Government School in 1920. Though known mostly as a poet .Golam Mostafa was a skilled writer of both prose and poetry . His poetic works include Raktarag ,Khosroj, Kaya Kahiny,Banyadam, Hashnahena etc. His Bishwanabi is a popular book about the life of prophet Muhammad SM and is often read aloud at milads.He retired as headmaster of Faridpur Zilla School in 1949. He died in 1964. 

    Farrukh Ahmed

    Farrukh Ahmed was a poet and writer of Bangladesh.He was born in the villageof Shrepur Upazila of Magura District.He was the second son of Syed Hatem Ali and Begum Rawshan. He was an intelligent poet of Bangla literature. He is widely known as the poet of Islamic Renaissance. His poems reflect the Arabic and Persian language legacy in Bangla and are replete with Arabic and Persian words. His famous works are Naufal O Hatem, Majhi, Sirazam Munira, Pakhir Basa etc. He was awarded Bangla Academy prize, Unesco prize and Ekusha Padhok etc.He died in 1974.

    Rabindranath Tagore

    Rabindranath Tagore was born in Calcutta ,India into a wealthy Brahmin family.He was educated at home ,and although at seventeen ,he was sent to England for formal schooling, he did not finish his studies.Although Tagore wrote successfully in all genres ,he was first of all poet.Among his fifty and odd volumes of poetry are Manasi, Sonartori, Gitangoli,Gitimalya, and Balaka. For his Gitangoli ,he was awarded The Novel Prize in literature in 1913.He is the author of several volumes of short stories,a number of novels,among them Ghora ,Ghare Baire ,and Yoga.Besides these ,he wrote musical dramas ,dance dramas,essay of all types,travel diaries etc.He died on august 7,1944.

    Palli kobi Jasim uddin

    Palli kobi Jasim uddin was born on 1 january 1903 at Tambulkhana village in Faridpur District.He started writting poems at an early age.As a college student, he wrote his celebrated poem  Kabar. This poem was placed in the entrance Bangla Textbook while he was still a student of Calcutta University. He was a lecturerof  Bangla literature of Dhaka University. He was noted for his depiction of rural life and nature from the viewpoint of rural people.this had earned him fame as Palli kobi.Rakhili, nokshi kanther Math,Baluchar, Sojon Badiyar Ghat,Matir Kanna, Hashu etc are his famous poetry.He died in1976.
